Please read before you flashing FreshTomato images. Download both files freshtomato-K26USB-NVRAM64K_RT-N5x-MIPSR2-XXXX.X-F9K1102-init.zip and the freshtomato-K26USB-NVRAM32K_RT-N5x-MIPSR2-XXXX.X-F9K1102.zip and save them to a folder. Once downloaded extract them from their zip files. Boot into your Belkin N600 router and goto the dashboard -> advanced settings -> utilities click save/restore - click restore defaults and wait for the router to boot back into web interface. Go back to the dashboard -> advanced settings -> utilities -> firmware update - choose the firmware button - navigate to the folder where you had downloaded those two files and upzipped them, choose the freshtomato-K26USB-NVRAM64K_RT-N5x-MIPSR2-XXXX.X-F9K1102-init.trx image to begin the upgrade. Two messages will appear asking permission to continue, click ok to continue. - *Note some browsers may fail to flash the freshtomato-K26USB-NVRAM64K_RT-N5x-MIPSR2-XXXX.X-F9K1102-init.trx image, you can go back to choose the image to repeat these steps again this is known to happen sometimes. Once the image is accepted the progress bar will appear to indicate that the upgrade is in progress - do not interfere with the upgrade or the browser at this time. Belkin leds will turn orange then blink orange when a dhcp connection is not detected and a blue led when a dhcp or network connection is detected with oem firmware. Once FreshTomato is flashed the leds will be a small blue led with the orange led indicating either boot or saving some settings are being saved you will need to wait for at least 9 seconds before accessing the router - *Note the leds do not blink. The freshtomato-K26USB-NVRAM64K_RT-N5x-MIPSR2-XXXX.X-F9K1102-init.trx upgrade should take up to 150 seconds the Belkin will attempt to boot back into 192.168.2.1 ip address, you will need to release the ip address of your connection in order to receive a new dhcp ip address from FreshTomato, for example 192.168.1.25. You will need to type ip address 192.168.1.1 into the browser, the login will appear; User:root/Password:admin - use those credentials to access FreshTomato GUI. Now go down to Administration -> Upgrade - choose file - navigate to where the freshtomato-K26USB-NVRAM32K_RT-N5x-MIPSR2-XXXX.X-F9K1102.trx is and select it to upgrade, check the box: After flashing, erase all data in NVRAM memory and wait for the router to boot. Once booted back you may log back in and configure it to your own network settings. On each GUI page there is a wiki link (upper right corner) that may help answer a question on some feature(s) as well explain the functionality as well. - *Note documentation is currently being updated by users on their spare time and so some documentation may not have been filled out yet. Be sure to keep your nvram usage down, a usb drive may be needed to use with OpenVPN to save space, some directions are in the nas-usb wiki.
